This isn’t a guide, it’s a map: 49 platforms — central exchanges, decentralized exchanges, wallets, cards, the Asian market and the unregulated edge — plus the coins, verified leverage figures and the voices that shape the space.

Everything here is checked against the providers’ own pages, not against comparison sites. Where a figure wasn’t verifiable, there is none. And the risk sits next to the thing, not in the fine print.

New to this? Start with the beginner’s guide — it explains step by step what a blockchain, a wallet and an exchange actually are. This page is the overview for people who already know.

Wallets — where the keys live

A wallet isn’t an account, it’s a keyring. Hardware wallets (Ledger, Trezor) keep the keys offline; software wallets are more convenient and stay connected. Both have their place — the only question is how much is riding on it.

Links marked with * are affiliate links. If you buy or subscribe through one, I receive a commission. The price stays the same for you. Which tool you choose is entirely up to you.

Ledger (Nano S Plus / Nano X / Flex / Stax) Advertising *

A small physical device (like a USB stick) that stores your private keys offline in a secured chip (Secure Element) — every transfer has to be confirmed with a button press on the device itself.

Risk: Costs money (from around 79 EUR). You still have to keep the seed phrase safely offline — the device doesn't replace it. IMPORTANT: only buy directly from ledger.com, NEVER second-hand or through marketplaces (tampered devices). Ledger suffered an e-commerce data breach in 2020 (roughly 272,000 names, addresses and phone numbers leaked publicly) → years of phishing, extortion and even burglary campaigns against affected customers. The optional backup service 'Ledger Recover', announced in 2023, sparked a trust controversy. The firmware is not fully open source.

Trezor (Model One / Safe 3 / Safe 5)

A physical device that keeps your private keys offline — the other big hardware-wallet maker alongside Ledger, with a focus on open-source, auditable software.

Risk: Costs money. Older models without a dedicated security chip (Model One) are, in theory, vulnerable to an attacker with physical access — the newer Safe models have a Secure Element. The seed phrase remains the critical point. Only buy directly from the manufacturer, never second-hand.

MetaMask

A free browser extension and app that serves as the standard gateway to Ethereum and related networks (Base, Arbitrum, Polygon, BNB Chain) — it manages your keys and connects you to Web3, DeFi and NFT applications.

Risk: A hot wallet = always online and therefore more exposed than cold storage. The main dangers are NOT code hacks but phishing sites, fake MetaMask apps, malicious dApps, risky token approvals and 'wallet drainers'. There's no built-in 2FA for the wallet itself; it's not 'beginner-proof' — security depends heavily on how carefully you handle your seed phrase and approvals.

Phantom

A popular wallet with Solana roots, now multichain (Solana, Ethereum, Base, Polygon, Bitcoin and more) — available as an app and browser extension, known for a very clean, beginner-friendly design.

Risk: A hot wallet — the usual phishing, fake-app and drainer risks apply. Parts of the software are not open source. As with any software wallet: protect your seed phrase and check transactions before signing them.

Rabby

An EVM wallet with a clear security focus: it simulates every transaction BEFORE you sign, shows in plain language what's about to happen, and warns you about risky actions.

Risk: For complete beginners, the wealth of detail can feel technical at first. A hot wallet with the usual online risks. Specifically: in March 2026 Ledger disclosed a critical vulnerability on Android devices with MediaTek chips that could affect Rabby among others (seed-phrase extraction) → install updates promptly.

Trust Wallet

A mobile-first self-custody wallet with very broad coin and chain support — install it, create a wallet, and send/receive in just a few steps.

Risk: A hot wallet. No 2FA, limited detection of scam tokens, and high fees on crypto purchases through third parties. The main dangers remain phishing, malicious approvals and browser/extension risks — you bear full responsibility for your 12-word recovery phrase.

Coinbase Wallet / 'Base App'

A self-custody software wallet from Coinbase (relaunched in 2026 as the 'Base App') — IMPORTANT: separate from the Coinbase exchange. On the exchange, Coinbase holds your coins (custodial); with this wallet, YOU hold the keys.

Risk: A hot wallet — phishing, fake support and hasty approvals are the real reasons people lose funds, not 'code hacks'. Social and discovery features can be distracting. Don't confuse it with the Coinbase EXCHANGE account (which is custodial = a different risk profile). Here too: protect your recovery phrase.

Zengo

A mobile wallet WITHOUT a classic seed phrase: instead of a single key, it uses Multi-Party Computation (MPC) — the key is split into two parts (one on your device, one on Zengo's servers), and both are needed to sign.

Risk: Signing depends on the Zengo service → it's not fully offline-independent (a deal-breaker for maximalists). The client is not open source and the account is tied to an email → weaker privacy. On 15 April 2026 the eToro Group announced its acquisition of Zengo for around 70 million USD (since completed) → new owner, so keep an eye on how development evolves.

Central exchanges

The usual way in: account, ID, buy. Convenient — and the coins are yours on paper only. What counts is the licence: the MiCA transition period ended on 1 July 2026, so “no licence” is no longer a neutral attribute for EU users.

  • Cake Wallet

    🇰🇳 · از 2018

An open-source, non-custodial wallet for Monero, Bitcoin, Litecoin, Ethereum and more. Known for its strong Monero focus and a built-in swap.

    • وضعیت MiCA نامشخص
    مزایا و معایب
    • Open source under the MIT license and non-custodial — the full code is on GitHub and the keys stay on your device.
    • Monero is treated seriously here: the blockchain is scanned locally on your device (your view key never goes to an outside server), you can point the app at your own node, and Tor is built in as a toggle.
    • Roughly a dozen chains per the official repo — Monero, Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Solana, Tron and others plus ERC-20 tokens — with buying, selling and swapping in one app.
    • The built-in swap is only a hand-off to third-party providers (ChangeNOW, SideShift, Exolix and others): the provider sets the rate, the cost sits inside that rate rather than in an itemised fee, and if a swap gets stuck or the provider demands an AML check mid-swap, Cake's own support page points you back to that provider.
    • It only becomes private after manual work — out of the box it talks to a public node and queries price and exchange APIs in the clear; Cake's own hardening guide tells you to add your own node and set those APIs to "Tor only" or "disabled".
    • Monero on a phone stays sluggish: users on the official forum report syncs that don't finish overnight and newly created wallets pulling millions of blocks and tens of gigabytes of data.

    • MiCA implementation may change KYC/fees through Q4 2026; issuance, ATM, and FX fees apply.
  • Kraken Krak Card

    🇺🇸 · از Kraken 2011; Krak-Karte November 2025

A Mastercard debit card from the exchange Kraken for paying out of your crypto/euro balance, with rewards paid out instantly in euros, pounds or Bitcoin. Issued via Monavate; the crypto conversion sits under a MiCA licence and the euro side under an e-money licence.

    مزایا و معایب
    • From an established exchange (Kraken); MiCA for the crypto conversion + e-money license for the euro side (issued via Monavate).
    • Cashback instantly in euros/pounds/BTC as you choose, with no monthly cap; no transaction or ATM fee.
    • Supports a large number of currencies; staking/earn available within the Kraken ecosystem.
    • Young rollout (card available since Nov 2025) → availability/features differ by country (e.g. Krak Vaults are UK-only).
    • Cashback requires a minimum/average balance and involves a conversion spread; custodial.
    • Card payments made from crypto are taxable sales.
  • Nexo

    🇨🇭 · از 2018

A crypto platform bundling four things in one app: a Mastercard (toggling between debit and credit mode), loans against deposited crypto (spend without selling), an interest account ('Earn') on coins and stablecoins, and custody insurance via its custody partners.

    • بدون مجوز MiCA
    مزایا و معایب
    • Four functions in one app: card, crypto-backed loans (without selling), interest account, and custody insurance via custody partners (BitGo, Ledger Vault, Bakkt).
    • The loan mode lets you spend without selling coins (for tax purposes often treated differently from a sale).
    • Custody insurance via Lloyd's syndicates (several hundred million USD, according to the provider).
    • NOT a granted MiCA CASP in the EU (as of mid-2026, application running through a German/Bulgarian structure) → EU access carries residual uncertainty, check the ESMA register before using.
    • Custodial with NO deposit insurance; the loan mode carries liquidation risk if prices drop (Celsius/Voyager 2022 as a warning for custodial Earn).
    • The highest cashback/interest tiers require holding a large share of NEXO tokens (concentration + volatility risk).
  • RedotPay

    • Regulated in Hong Kong, NO EU MiCA licence → no EU consumer protection framework; standard card without permanent cashback (only temporary campaigns).
    • Custodial; KYC scope varies by card tier/region (the provider adjusts requirements) — do not mistake this for a promise of anonymity.
    • Young (since 2023); card payments funded from crypto are taxable disposals.
  • Wirex

    🇬🇧 · از 2014

A long-standing provider (since 2014, London) with a multi-currency debit card (Visa/Mastercard depending on region) bundling fiat, stablecoins and crypto in one app; advertised 'Cryptoback' rewards in its in-house WXT token. • Interest accounts (X-Accounts) and an optional non-custodial Wirex Wallet alongside the custodial app.

    • MiCA licence not confirmed as of mid-2026 (in progress); e-money registration is NOT deposit protection.
    • Custodial balances; rated "proceed with caution" in several comparisons.

The coins

Not a shopping list. What the best-known coins are, what they’re for, and what the risk is with each — sorted by age, from the most established to the newest. No fixed prices here on purpose: they change daily, and every card links to CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap.

Bitcoin BTC

established

Store of Value · since 2009

The first and largest cryptocurrency (launched January 2009) – a scarce, decentralized digital currency with a hard-capped supply of 21 million coins, often called "digital gold."

Risk: Highly volatile in the short term (historically several drops of 50%+); no deposit insurance and no "chargebacks"; anyone who loses their private keys loses their coins for good.

Ethereum ETH

established

Smart-Contract-Plattform · since 2015

A programmable blockchain (since 2015) that runs "smart contracts" – self-executing code for apps, tokens, NFTs and DeFi. Since 2022 it uses energy-efficient proof-of-stake.

Risk: Volatile; fees can climb when the network is busy; competition from faster chains; smart-contract and app risks. Staking ties up your capital and carries its own risks.

USD Coin USDC

established

Stablecoin · since 2018

A US-dollar-pegged stablecoin issued by Circle, backed by regulated, audited reserves.

Risk: No price gains (it's designed to stay steady at 1 USD); issuer and reserve risk; a theoretical "depegging" (drifting away from the dollar price) during periods of stress; no deposit insurance.

Arbitrum ARB

younger

Layer 2 (Ethereum) · since 2021 (Netzwerk; Token 2023)

A "Layer 2" on top of Ethereum: it bundles transactions to make them faster and cheaper while still settling their security on Ethereum (an optimistic rollup).

Risk: The token's value isn't the same as network usage (you can use the network without holding ARB); smart-contract and technical risks; rollups have withdrawal waiting periods; volatile.

Avalanche AVAX

younger

Smart-Contract-Plattform · since 2020

A smart-contract platform with "subnets" – custom blockchains of their own that share the network's security.

Risk: Volatile; intense competition among Layer 1 platforms; the token's value depends heavily on ecosystem adoption.

BNB BNB

younger

Exchange-/Smart-Contract-Token · since 2017

A token built around the Binance world and the BNB Chain; originally launched as a fee-discount token for the Binance exchange, today it also serves as the gas token of its own smart-contract chain.

Risk: Tightly tied to a single company (Binance) → concentrated regulatory risk; as of mid-2026 Binance had no valid MiCA license for the EU. Volatile.

Base

younger

Layer 2 (Ethereum) · since 2023

An Ethereum Layer 2 from the Coinbase exchange, built for ease of use. It uses ETH for fees and (as of 2026) deliberately has no speculative token of its own.

Risk: Run by Coinbase → a central operator; it still carries the same smart-contract risks as any L2. Having no token of its own means it isn't "investable" as a coin.

Cardano ADA

younger

Smart-Contract-Plattform · since 2017

A research-driven proof-of-stake blockchain for smart contracts, developed with an academic, peer-reviewed approach.

Risk: Criticized for low app/developer activity (the "ghost chain" charge); analysts questioned whether it still belonged in the top 20 in 2026. Volatile.

Chainlink LINK

younger

Oracle / Infrastruktur · since 2017 (Mainnet 2019)

The leading "oracle" network: it reliably feeds real-world data (such as prices) into blockchains and connects different chains with one another.

Risk: The price swings sharply (daily moves of more than 10%); its value depends on how much the network is used; volatile.

Dai / USDS (Sky) DAI

younger

Stablecoin (dezentral) · since 2017 (Dai; Rebrand/USDS 2024)

A decentralized dollar stablecoin backed by crypto collateral, run by a smart contract rather than a single company (from the Sky/MakerDAO protocol; newer brand: USDS).

Risk: More complex than USDC/USDT; it relies on crypto collateral and protocol governance; smart-contract risk; hard for non-experts to fully grasp.

Optimism OP

younger

Layer 2 (Ethereum) · since 2021 (Netzwerk; Token 2022)

An Ethereum Layer 2 (optimistic rollup) and the foundation of the "OP Stack," on which Base, among others, is built.

Risk: Like Arbitrum: the token's value isn't directly tied to network usage; technical and smart-contract risks; volatile.

Polkadot DOT

younger

Interoperabilität / Multi-Chain · since 2020

A network that links many individual blockchains ("parachains") under a shared security relay chain.

Risk: A slow start on smart contracts; complex technology; the token's value is bound to the ecosystem's success; volatile.

Polygon POL

younger

Layer 2 / Skalierung (Ethereum) · since 2017 (als Matic Network; Rebrand zu Polygon 2021)

A scaling ecosystem for Ethereum (formerly the MATIC token, now POL) with cheap, fast transactions.

Risk: A token switch (MATIC→POL) and strong competition; its value is tied to adoption; volatile.

Solana SOL

younger

Smart-Contract-Plattform · since 2020

A fast, very cheap smart-contract blockchain; popular for apps, NFTs and meme coins.

Risk: High volatility; several network outages in the past; younger and more centralized than Ethereum. The meme-coin scene on Solana carries extra speculative risk.

Stellar XLM

younger

Zahlungen / Tokenisierung · since 2014

A blockchain for cheap, fast payments and for issuing tokens/tokenized assets; launched in 2014 by a Ripple co-founder.

Risk: Volatile; strong competition in the payments space; its value depends on adoption.

Tether USDT

younger

Stablecoin · since 2014

The largest "stablecoin" – a token meant to be pegged 1:1 to the US dollar and backed by reserves (mainly US government bonds).

Risk: Under MiCA, since 2026 it has been delisted for retail customers by many EU exchanges (not listed as compliant) → tricky for EU beginners; trust hinges on the issuer's reserve backing; no statutory deposit insurance.

Toncoin TON

younger

Smart-Contract-Plattform · since 2020 (community-getragen; 2018 von Telegram gestartet)

"The Open Network" – a blockchain originally designed by the Telegram team, built for scalability and ease of use.

Risk: A legal backstory involving Telegram and the SEC; dependence on the Telegram ecosystem; volatile.

XRP XRP

younger

Zahlungen / Settlement · since 2012

The token of the Ripple network, designed for fast, cheap cross-border payments between banks and financial-service providers.

Risk: The price is heavily sentiment-driven; a years-long legal battle with the US securities regulator (SEC) shaped its history; a somewhat more centralized structure. Volatile.

Dogecoin DOGE

new

Meme-Coin · since 2013

The first "meme coin," launched in 2013 as a joke and a Bitcoin parody; it's sometimes used for tipping and small payments.

Risk: Highly speculative, with little fundamental utility; the price rides on sentiment and hype; according to Motley Fool (2026), roughly 86% below its all-time high; unlimited supply. More of a gambling character.

Monero XMR

new

Privacy-Coin · since 2014

A privacy coin: it conceals the sender, recipient and amounts so that transactions can't be publicly traced.

Risk: Because of its privacy feature, it has been removed from many exchanges (including MiCA-licensed ones) or is hard to trade → access and liquidity risk in the EU; regulatorily contentious; volatile. Not suitable for beginners.

Shiba Inu SHIB

new

Meme-Coin · since 2020

A 2020 meme coin built on Ethereum, inspired by Dogecoin; it's building a small ecosystem of its own (including its own exchange and its own Layer 2).

Risk: Highly speculative; according to Motley Fool (2026), roughly 93% below its all-time high; its value is heavily hype-driven; high risk of loss. More of a gambling character.

Render RENDER

established

Rechenleistung / KI · since 2020 (Netzwerk öffentlich; Idee 2009 bei OTOY)

A network that pools idle graphics cards: anyone who needs 3D images or AI models rendered rents capacity here and pays in RENDER.

Risk: Tokens are burned when you pay, while new ones are minted continuously — if usage doesn't grow, the scarcity evaporates. Fierce competition (io.net, Akash). Volatile.

Bittensor TAO

younger

Dezentrale KI · since 2021 (Mainnet)

A marketplace for machine intelligence: anyone contributing useful AI work to the network gets paid in TAO. Hard cap of 21M tokens, like Bitcoin's.

Risk: Governance is more centralised than the word "decentralised" promises — one participant leaving triggered an 18–25% drop in 2026. Highly volatile.

established

Blockchain / Finanzen · since 2018 (Mainnet 2021)

A blockchain specialised in financial applications: trading, derivatives, on-chain order books. Block time under one second.

Risk: The price has fallen roughly 91% since March 2024 — despite continuous technical progress. Anyone buying in should know that good technology has failed to move the price for years. Volatile.

Hedera HBAR

established

Unternehmens-Infrastruktur · since 2017 (Mainnet 2018, offen ab 2019)

A blockchain for enterprise use whose governing council consists of major corporations (including Google, IBM, Boeing). A US fund (ETF) on it has existed since 2025.

Risk: Holding HBAR earns you NOTHING from the network's revenue. On top of that, roughly 6.5bn tokens still sit undelivered in the treasury — a supply overhang. Volatile.

The Graph GRT

established

Daten-Infrastruktur · since 2018 (Mainnet 2020)

A kind of search engine for blockchain data: apps query here to find out what happened on a chain, instead of scanning it themselves.

Risk: Over 10bn tokens in circulation, roughly 3% new ones per year with no cap — fees don't cover that issuance yet. Coinbase delisted GRT futures in 2026. Volatile.

Fetch.ai / ASI FET

established

KI-Agenten · since 2018 (Mainnet 2020)

A network for AI agents that trade with each other autonomously. Since 2024 part of a merger of several AI projects (the "Artificial Superintelligence Alliance").

Risk: One partner left the alliance in 2026, selling roughly 286M tokens in the process — a blow to trust. The price sits around 93% below its high. Volatile.

IOTA IOTA

established

Handel / IoT · since 2015 (Mainnet 2016)

A network for device and trade data, originally built for the "internet of things". Since its 2025 rebuild it has smart contracts and staking; in use for African trade.

Risk: A decade of disappointed roadmaps. The partnerships have NOT moved the price — it fell despite the most productive phase in the project's history. Roughly 6% new tokens per year. Volatile.

VeChain VET

established

Lieferketten · since 2015 (Mainnet 2018)

A supply-chain blockchain: products get a tamper-proof record of where they came from. History with Walmart, BMW, DNV.

Risk: Roughly 86bn tokens in circulation. The partnerships never produced measurable on-chain throughput — the market has learned to ignore mere announcements. Volatile.

Immutable IMX

established

Spiele · since 2018 (Mainnet 2021)

The infrastructure beneath Web3 games: Immutable provides the chain on which in-game items are traded. Partnerships with Ubisoft and Netmarble, among others.

Risk: Web3 gaming still has no breakout title — without one, the best infrastructure is an empty motorway. Ongoing token unlocks, thin liquidity. Volatile.

Ondo ONDO

younger

Reale Vermögenswerte · since 2021 (Token handelbar 2024)

Brings US treasuries and equities onto the blockchain as tokens — with real institutional volume and an EU authorisation under MiCA.

Risk: The token captures little of the platform's value — the business can thrive without ONDO rising. Roughly 6.5bn more tokens arrive by 2029 (+133% supply). Volatile.

Virtuals Protocol VIRTUAL

new

KI-Agenten · since 2024 (auf Base; hervorgegangen aus PathDAO, 2021)

A launchpad for AI agents that get their own tokens and can trade on-chain. Running on Base since October 2024.

Risk: Protocol revenue collapsed roughly 99% since January 2025 — that's not a dip, it's a collapse in usage. A very young project, extremely volatile.

Enjin Coin ENJ

established

Spiele / NFT · since 2017 (Firma Enjin seit 2009)

A pioneer of in-game items as NFTs, today with its own blockchain. 95% of tokens are already unlocked — little selling pressure from unlocks remains.

Risk: The real use case still lags expectations. The spectacular price jumps (such as +147% in a week) are derivative-driven, not demand-driven. Roughly 99% below its high. Volatile.

Grass GRASS

new

Daten für KI · since 2022 (Token 2024)

Pools idle internet bandwidth: those who share it help gather public web data for AI training and get rewarded for it.

Risk: A young project with no history across a full market cycle — you simply don't know how it behaves in a real crash. Ongoing token unlocks. Very volatile.

Helium HNT

established

Mobilfunk / Netzwerk · since 2013 (Mainnet 2019)

A mobile network built from private hotspots: run one, provide coverage, get paid in HNT. Deals with AT&T and Telefónica.

Risk: The textbook case of "genuinely used, price on the floor anyway": over 1M daily users, and the price fell to an all-time low in 2026. Whether usage ever becomes token value is an open question. Volatile.

MEXC منبع ↗ 500x Only BTCUSDT and ETHUSDT, only as USDT-margined perpetuals. SOL, XRP, DOGE, ADA: 250x. A widely circulated 300x figure is wrong. No MiCA licence; reported as unauthorised by the Dutch AFM. The high leverage exists precisely because of the offshore structure. The tiering works the opposite way to what you'd expect: the leverage isn't capped for large positions — the position size is capped by the leverage you choose.
Jupiter منبع ↗ 250x Only Jupiter Perps' three markets: SOL, ETH (wETH), wBTC. The same range for all three: 1.1x to 250x. There are no "normal pairs" here. No EU limit — Jupiter is a permissionless DEX on Solana with no regulated EU entity. That does NOT mean "safer": it means EU investor protection does not apply. Not a futures contract. The counterparty to every trade is the JLP liquidity pool, not a matched counterparty.
Gate منبع ↗ 200x Only 2 of 835 USDT-M perpetuals (BTC_USDT, ETH_USDT) — 0.24% of all contracts. And only in risk-limit tier 1, i.e. up to 500,000 USDT position size. Most common value across all 835 contracts: 20x (306 contracts). 833 of the 835 offer at most 100x. MiCA licence via Malta (29 Sep 2025) — but that covers spot only; derivatives fall under MiFID II and are not included. EU readers should verify separately before use. The risk-limit ladder for BTC_USDT: 500k → 200x · 1M → 150x · 1.5M → 125x. The leverage drops automatically as the position grows.
Bybit منبع ↗ 125x Exactly ONE instrument: the USDC-margined Bitcoin perpetual "BTCPERP", and only in the lowest risk tier. Across all 701 active linear perps: 125x → 1 pair · 100x → 6 · 50x → 132 · 25x → 232. The median sits far lower. For EU/EEA users there is NO futures leverage at all. Bybit EU GmbH (Vienna) has been FMA-licensed since 28 May 2025 — the MiCA licence covers spot only. The widely quoted "200x Smart Leverage" is not a futures contract but a structured, non-capital-protected yield product on Bybit Earn. Two entirely different things.
Bitget منبع ↗ 125x Only USDT-M perpetuals on a few top pairs (documented: BTCUSDT, XRPUSDT), and only in the lowest position tier. ETHUSDT starts at 100x per Bitget's own docs (not 125x) and drops to 75x above 1M USDT. Newly listed pairs sit far below that. Not in the ESMA register; France shut it off in March 2026. No provider statement on EU limits could be found. Bitget's own wording: "The higher the position value, the lower the maximum supported leverage."
GMX منبع ↗ 100x Only GMX V2 perpetuals, and there only on the BTC and ETH markets. Gold/silver: 100x during on-hours only, otherwise 25x. GMX publishes no list for other pairs — the maximum depends on the liquidity of the respective pool. No regulated EU entity, no KYC. The ESMA cap (2x on crypto CFDs) doesn't apply because no regulated broker sits in between — which is also the risk. When opening a position the protocol validates against a HALVED limit — the advertised peak and what you actually get at entry are not the same. Older sources saying "GMX = 50x" refer to V1, shut down in July 2025.
OKX منبع ↗ 100x Global only (non-EU), only on crypto- or USDT-margined perpetuals, and there only on the most liquid instruments. USD-margined perpetuals: max 50x. Altcoins considerably lower, set per instrument. A hard 10x — via a DIFFERENT product and a different legal entity. In Europe you don't trade perpetuals but "X-Perps": per OKX, futures with a five-year expiry. The EU product is not a perpetual. Anyone who knows the global 100x from a comparison is trading something else in the EU.
Bitfinex منبع ↗ 100x (Derivate) · 10x (Margin) The 10x applies ONLY to margin on BTCUSD, BTCUST, USTUSD — 3 pairs. The 100x applies to derivatives/perpetuals. Margin: ETH, XRP, LTC, gold and others at 5x; the rest at 3.33x. Derivatives: SOL, BNB at 20x. Derivatives run through "Bitfinex Derivatives El Salvador, S.A. de C.V." — not a MiCA entity. Confusing the products is the main trap here: margin trading on Bitfinex is NOT a futures contract but genuine borrowing from other users via the P2P funding market — with ongoing, fluctuating interest.
Crypto.com منبع ↗ 100x Only BTC and ETH, and only as a derivative: exactly 2 of 305 perpetuals carry this value. 50x — uniform across all 303 remaining perpetuals, whether altcoin, commodity or stock perp. EU users are COMPLETELY excluded from derivatives trading — not reduced leverage, none at all. "Up to 100x depending on region" is doubly wrong: the 100x depends on the INSTRUMENT (BTC/ETH only), not the region — and in the EU it doesn't exist at all.
dYdX منبع ↗ 50x Only BTC-USD and ETH-USD — exactly 2 of 114 active markets. 20x for mid-cap (including SOL, the vast majority) · 10x small-cap (LINK, ADA, DOGE) · 5x long-tail · 1x in the safety tier. The widely quoted "20x" is not the maximum but the mid-cap standard — and comes from the old v3. No EU leverage cap (decentralized, no regulated EU entity). No limit doesn't mean "safer" here: it means EU investor protection simply doesn't apply. The leverage is not a fixed number. The margin requirement rises with the market's open interest — the maximum can fall purely because OTHER people are trading the same market.
Hyperliquid منبع ↗ 40x Only BTC perpetuals, and only up to 150M USDC position size. ETH sits at 25x. SOL/XRP 20x · the bulk of altcoins (DOGE, AVAX, LINK, SUI, ADA) 10x · illiquid ones down to 3x. No EU limit — decentralized protocol, EU users get the same 40x/25x. The widely quoted 50x is outdated. On 12 Mar 2025 a wallet opened a 50x ETH long worth $200M, deliberately withdrew margin and forced liquidation — the loss landed in the HLP vault. Limits were cut afterwards.
bitFlyer منبع ↗ 2x The entire leveraged product (BTC, ETH, XRP) — as a statutory cap, not a marketing offer. Japan caps crypto leverage hard. There are no pairs with more. 2x is both the maximum and the uniform value. Per the provider's own market list, the Europe region carries spot only. Not a futures contract but a cash-settled OTC CFD — the counterparty is bitFlyer itself. Its predecessor "Lightning FX" was discontinued on 28 Mar 2024.
HTX منبع ↗ متناقض Not verifiable. HTX's own documentation contradicts itself: "200x" (perpetual swap trading rules), "1x–100x" (contract leverage introduction) and "50x" (last dated announcement, 23 Sep 2022) are all online simultaneously. Also unresolved — the claim "standard pairs max 100x" is contradicted rather than confirmed by HTX's own docs. Not in the ESMA register; UK sanctions May 2026. No number is given here, deliberately. The 200x announcement is from January 2022, was withdrawn by the provider itself in September 2022 — and is still retrievable, appearing undated. Any figure would be a choice between contradictory primary sources, i.e. guessing.
